Conservation room

The writing of a grant by Martha Bladen began at the beginning of 2017. She soon realized she needed input from a variety of skill sets, so called upon selected members. The historical society has a very talented membership and volunteers are an essential part of its operation and progress. The “garage conversion into conservation room” project committee of Dick Yanikoski, Tom Dawson, Sundra Whitham and Barry Brown provided essential input and research that facilitated the writing of the grant. Thank you for your dedicated efforts!

Thank you to the Indiana Historical Society for offering this unique opportunity focused on conservation and collections care. Our historical society has already benefitted countless times from their Local History Services assistance on board development, strategic planning, collections’ assessment and has provided hands-on conservation workshops.

Thank you to the Community Foundation of Switzerland County, Inc. for providing the 15% required match. They have supported numerous historical society projects and the society also has an endowment fund through the foundation that provides some of their annual funding.

Due to these granting organizations and volunteers, we are better able to fulfill our mission to preserve, protect and promote the history of Switzerland County, Indiana.
